Renewable Energy

Outstanding Academics essential engineering experience

The Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Renewable Energy is a four-year degree programme developed with the pedagogical framework of Science and Art in obtaining energy from a natural process that is replenished constantly, to act as a source of electricity generation and power supply, which encompasses the phenomenal study of the Sun as solar energy, the wind, ocean, hydropower, biomass, geothermal resources, and biofuels as a means of generating electric power. The programme deploys technological diversification of these energy sources as a skill to address electricity security towards economic benefit in Sierra Leone and Africa as a whole.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

Our Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree in Renewable Energy, required students to complete one hundred and twenty (120) credit hours. Which consists of seven (7) Foundational Courses, made-up of Communication skills of six (6) credit hours, General Education of six (6) credit hours, and finally Computer Education of nine (9) credit hours, summing up to twenty-one (21) credit hours requirement, in addition to a thirty-three (33) departmental courses holding a ninety-nine (99) credit hours as a requirement to graduate as honors in BSc. Degree in Renewable Energy.

ADMISSION CRITERIA & ELIGIBILITY:

  1. The students holding General Certificate of Education (G.C.E.) ‘O’ Level, must have five (5) credit passes including English and Mathematics.
  2. If the students hold West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), then the candidates must have credit passes in six (6) subjects and three of these six subjects must be core subjects including English language and Mathematics.

COURSE CREDITS TRANSFER POLICY

The Canadian University College of Modern Technology does accept credit transfers from accredited and recognized colleges or Universities on a case-by-case basis. However, credit transfer from such colleges and universities cannot exceed sixty (60) credit hours, relying on courses that are different from departmental courses yet relevant to the field of study, which may be considered for transfer. Therefore, students with credit transfer requests will be required to contact the office of the Registrar to establish the procedure in fulfilling such requirements at the departmental or faculty level.
